Zagreb Airport is one of the busiest airports in Southeastern Europe, and its passenger numbers have been rising since 2011. It is named after Croatia’s first president, Franjo Tuđman, who died in 1999. Zagreb Airport is the country's central transportation hub, connecting the capital to all other domestic and main European destinations. The airport operates regular scheduled and charter flights to countries in central and southeastern Europe as well as flights to international cities such as Doha, Dubai, and Toronto. Its terminal building was renovated and opened to the public in 2017. The building consists of three floors and the ground level, which includes parking areas, taxis, and other means of transport. This is where you can pick up or deliver your car rental at Zagreb Airport. Our welcoming staff will await your arrival and take you to the chosen vehicle.

Zagreb Airport is conveniently located near the city center, a short 30-minute drive away, considering traffic congestion. The current Zagreb Airport was constructed in 1962, and by 1966, the terminal building was renovated, and the runway was expanded by 1,000 m. Zagreb Airport saw a rising passenger number, and it was the largest airport in Yugoslavia in the ‘80s. During the war, the airport was used as a military base and played a crucial role in providing medical supplies and food even though it was damaged by the Croatian forces. After the end of the war and during the 2000s, Zagreb Airport was upgraded, and new amenities and infrastructures were added due to the increasing number of flights and the rising needs of passengers. In 2012, the ZAIC consortium was signed, and a 30-year concession contract was entrusted to finance, develop, and construct Zagreb Airport. The current terminal building covers 70,000 square meters and consists of runways, passenger and cargo terminal, and car parks. The terminal building also includes eight air bridges, four baggage carousels, 45 check-in desks, and nine security checkpoints. Moreover, Zagreb Airport features a 600-square-metre duty-free shop managed by Aelia, 16 cafés, bars, and restaurants, and 12 retail businesses. A short drive away from Zagreb Airport will take you to Andautonija Archaeological Park, which features Roman ruins and baths dating from the 1st century to the 3rd century AD.

Rent a Car Velika Gorica

Velika Gorica is the largest city in Zagreb County and the center of the historical Turopolje region. This is also where Zagreb Airport is located as well as Middle Age chapels, the Turopolje Museum, libraries, galleries, and famous war monuments. Founded in 1960, the Turopolje Museum preserves and promotes the cultural heritage of the historic Turopolje, Pokuplje, Posavina, and Vukomeričke gorice districts. The museum is located in the center of Velika Gorica, on the eastern edge of the central park, in a structure dating back to the seventeenth century. Velika Gorica is a charming town with a bustling city center but still manages to retain its authentic atmosphere. Velika Gorica's city center and adjacent districts developed significantly in the late 1970s. Throughout the city's history, several parks have been built to fulfill the demand for both green space and structural development, with the majority of them featuring public sculpture. For example, the Bomber Man is an antifascist war monument in the city center. Moreover, the well-preserved wooden chapels in Turopolje and Pokuplje are the last ones preserved in the region, dating from the 17th century. For a relaxing lake swim in Velika Gorica, head to Čiče Beach, where you can also enjoy sunsets and picnics.
